Autorizacion de regreso

Authorización de regreso – a document for returning to Spain

💡It is issued upon request for those who already have a residency permit but it has expired and is in the process of being renewed. It is also issued when there is an initial application approval/fingerprints have been submitted, but the residency card has not been issued yet.

💡At the time of applying for this authorization, your current residency should be expired.

💡This document is valid for 3 months.

❌If the initial application for residency in Spain is still under review, you cannot obtain an Autorizacion de regreso.

❌This document does not grant you the right to stay in other EU countries. In other words, you must fly directly to your destination. If you have a layover in EU countries, the flight must be transit. Exiting the airport is not allowed.

📌What documents are required to obtain an Autorización de regreso:

-Confirmation of the submitted application for residency renewal OR Resolución favorable (approval)

-Expired TIE (Foreigner Identity Card) -Passport

-Application and paid fee

-Tickets (ideally round trip) within a 3-month period
